OPEN ART WEEK 2020 will take place in Tunis and on-line from 19 October to 11 December 2020.
As an answer to pandemic crisis, the themes explored this year are creativity and technology, social and virtual communities, visions and imagination of the future to come.
The founding questions that guided the preparation of the present edition were focused on how to support a production and a creative offer really meaningful and critical, paying special attention to the digital format.
Among which:
*What role can play technology beyond the simple reproduction, documentation and diffusion of works and cultural contents ?
*How and what sort of public and shared spaces can be reactivated in compliance with social distance ?
*How and what sort of social, community and cultural networks can be identified, supported and activated inthat context ?
*How can we concretely support the artistic scene and its performers, in the delicate transition to a normal resumption of cultural activities ?
This year the artistic subjects privileged fashion, art edition – comics and illustrations -, considered among the creative industries more affected by health and economic crisis.
The invited artists include over 30 international creatives, from Europe (Italy, Switzerland, France, Romania) and from Northern Africa (Tunisia, Algeria), with two-thirds under 30. This edition welcomes also the participation of well-known and established professionals from the Italian and North-African fashion area.
For the first time, there will be a mixed presentation and fruition method: live and on line. A new special section will be launched on web and social media (facebook, instagram, youtube), dedicated to 3 projects coordinated by teams of international curators: La nuova frontiera (The new frontier), Fashion Conversation, Fashion Breaks. At the same time, by the Italian Institute of Culture in Tunis will take place the exhibition of comics The new frontier.
The projects will live in a dynamic cross-media space, articulated between social media and the OPEN ART WEEK website that will act as an archive and a place for the deepening of each single project. The layout of the website will be immediate and easy to navigate: landing on a welcome page, since 19 October you will find the programme and three sections, each one with a dedicated page, containing additional material. The visitor will discover and appreciate the exhibited works not only by seeing it, but he will also discover their creative genesis with the help of images, video and interviews with artists and curators. Some contents will be directly produced by artists, while others will be in collaboration with the editing team of OPEN ART WEEK.
The projects will be presented and uploaded on-line in a progressive fashion throughout OPEN ART WEEK 2020 from 19 October to 11 December.
